A new rugged portable and mobile rechargeable battery was designed by Evolve Design Solutions. The new i-Pack mobile battery is used and solely compatible with the i-Kabin, an off-grid solar-powered battery recharging kiosk. The i-Pack mobile rechargeable battery provides electricity to people and families that live without electricity in off-grid rural or remote villages and is tailored and used for lighting, recharging mobile phones and a wide range of other small electrical products such as fans, radios, refrigerator and TVs.

Evolve Design Solutions was tasked to design and develop the User Interface (UI) of a vacuum gauge device for a leading worldwide supplier of U.S. designed and manufactured tools and equipment for the HVAC/R and automotive industries. Evolve was responsible for the complete rich and intuitive GUI (Graphical User Interface) development for the black and white 128 X 96 pixels E-paper electronic display of the new compact digital vacuum gauge device. Evolve created and delivered UI flowcharts and storyboard diagrams, UI design navigation layouts and all final custom UI graphics and icons pixel bitmap digital image output files for coding.

For an international leading solutions provider specializing in protective equipment, as part of a new special operations helmet ballistic system, Evolve Design Solutions designed and developed two different helmet ballistic visor shield mounting arms for eye and face protection used in unstable environments. The visor protection arms were designed to directly, quickly and securely clip into the new special operations helmet ballistic system. One of the visor mounting arm is a fixed arm locked-in ballistic visor shield version that works in conjunction with equipment mounted to the helmet system shroud while the other visor mounting arm is adjustable and the arm mounts to the helmet system NVG (Night Vision Goggles) shroud.

Evolve Design Solutions was tasked by its client, Xeos Technologies, to undertake the conceptual design exploration phase for the new Resolute GNSS (Global Navigation Satellite System) receiver. The new autonomous reference receiver is a low power, small form factor, user configurable and fully compatible GNSS receiver. Evolve created and presented to its client multiple conceptual design ideation concepts which one was selected for Xeos Technologies’ engineering team to engineer and implement for production.

The new Kun Solo™ violin shoulder rest was recently designed and developed by Evolve Design Solutions. This innovative shoulder rest has simplified quick-adjust finger levers, which eliminates the traditional screws and has a sponge rubber shoulder support with cut-outs to enhance its grip on the player’s shoulder and to ensure air flow around the shoulder and neck. It also features a sleek, two-toned, contoured body design with tapered sides and a brand new and innovative collapsing mechanism for easy folding and storage. Evolve Design Solutions was involved and collaborated with Tahi Technologies’ product development team in providing mechanical design and engineering, plastics engineering and 3D CAD components design and development services to take the Tahi existing smart automatic cooking pot design intent concept into a functional and physical proof-of-concept ready design. For a great cooking experience, all controls for the smart automatic cooking pot are located in the app on your smart phone. Evolve collaborated and worked closely with Tahi’s mechanical development team in developing a physical proof-of-concept ready product.

The Energy SharePack™, a rechargeable battery and energy storage management system was designed and developed by Evolve Design Solutions in collaboration with its client, Panacis. This lightweight lithium ion rechargeable energy storage system is used in stringent military applications for advanced electronic battlefield equipment such as networked radios, night-vision systems, GPS, cellular phones, laptops, etc. Evolve worked closely with the electronic and mechanical development team in creating the new rechargeable battery and energy storage management system physical product.

Evolve Design Solutions’ new Zoom dining table was launched in High Point, NC at the High Point Market (the largest furnishings industry trade show in the world). This contemporary extendable table was designed for Amisco, one of North America’s leading manufacturers of high quality residential furniture. The new Zoom table seats 8 comfortably and opens easily and effortlessly by one person thanks to its ball bearing slide mechanism.

Evolve Design Solutions is proud to have been selected and retained by a large North American furniture designer and manufacturer to create a series of new, functional and innovative concepts of contemporary tables to be commercialized and launched in North America at the High Point Market furnishings industry tradeshow in April 2013.

A new rugged military state-of-the-art rechargeable lithium ion battery pack and charger case unit have just been designed and engineered by Evolve Design Solutions. The new battery and charger are destined for military personnel and must survive stringent military testing as well as meet and comply with the environmental testing requirements of the MIL-STD-810 standard. While environmental considerations were important, overall physical size and weight of the battery pack were crucial requirements. Evolve worked closely with the electronic and mechanical development team in creating the new battery pack and charger unit.

These contemporary avant-garde cantilevered metal leg stools are lightweight and comfortable and were designed for Amisco, one of North America’s leading manufacturers of high quality residential furniture. These non-swivel 30” stools are light and easy to move and are offered in a back and backless version with wellcushioned seat and convenient footrest for optimal comfort.

Evolve Design Solutions has recently finalized the complete development of a man-portable energy system rechargeable battery pack. This rugged and robust hand carrying portable energy system product is used for solar powered and wind powered systems and must survive stringent field testing as well as meet and comply with severe environmental testing and operational requirements from -10ºC to +50ºC . The small physical size and light weight of this portable rechargeable battery pack product were also crucial design requirements that Evolve needed to successfully achieve.

The new, innovative and patent pending C-POD™ developed by Evolve Design Solutions is a smart DNA sample collection plastic container to preserve genetic material such as buccal cell, tissue, blood/liquid spot prior to laboratory testing. The C-POD™ is moulded flat as a single piece which comprises of a buccal collector, a bottom housing and a top housing which are linked together by folding break-away tabs. The C-POD™ provides a faster, low cost, error free, automated method to manage data, store laboratory samples, and retrieve high value samples for genetic analysis and can be used for DNA Collection for Human and Animal Genetic Sampling.

Evolve Design Solutions has recently completed the industrial design and plastics engineering development for two new toddler eyewear products for iGoggles Eyewear. The new children unisex eyewear frames are designed as an injection moulded thermoplastic single piece frame and are available in two sizes such as a 3 ¾” frame for the under 2 year old market and a 4 ½” for the 2 to 5 year old market. The new frames are flexible and yet, extremely robust and are moulded in 5 different vibrant colours. Evolve also designed the snap-on and snap-off holding head strap required for the two toddler eyewear frames.

Evolve Design Solutions is pleased to announce that it has won 2nd place in the annual Javelin/SolidWorks 2011 “Cool” Design Contest with its Yuleys Protective Footwear design submission. Every year, Javelin Technologies, Canada’s premier SolidWorks Value Added Reseller (VAR), holds a design contest for customers to submit their designs created with SolidWorks 3D CAD or SolidWorks Simulation Finite Element Analysis tools.

Evolve has recently completed the world-class industrial design program for the remote control of the Unitron Smart AlertTM System, the first fully integrated hearing and alerting system that enables household alerts to communicate directly with hearing instruments. The system, developed in partnership with Bellman & Symfon of Sweden, a global leader in alerting technologies, brings together Unitron’s widely acclaimed remote control and advanced hearing instruments with proven home alerting detectors. The Smart AlertTM System wirelessly connects household detectors with the Smart Alert remote – the same remote used for hearing instrument functionality. When doorbell, telephone or smoke detectors sound, the Smart AlertTM System provides alerts through event-specific icons on the remote, the remote vibrates, and beep signals are sent directly to the hearing instruments. At night, when hearing instruments are not in use, the Smart Alert remote is placed in its nightstand charger, which connects to a bed shaker, so alerts are maintained around the clock.

Each year in April, during the Milan Design Week, designers and retail buyers from around the world convene in Milan for one of the design world’s biggest trade shows, the Salone Internazionale del Mobile. Aldo Balatti of Evolve Design Solutions was one of 348,000 visitors from all over the world who attended the event from April 16-21. Thousands of international designers contributed to this year’s show making it the biggest ever. The event was a great opportunity to forge new professional and personal connections with international designers within the design industry and was an insightful and enriching experience.

Working with its Global Development Centre, Evolve Design Solutions has recently finalized a complete world-class packaging system for a large international company renowned for its high-value leading-edge technology solutions and distributed in over 65 countries. The new premium packaging was designed and developed for carrying and storage of hearing instruments. The new three component packaging system comprises of an injection molded hard case with soft molded elastomeric inlays as well as a thermoformed EVA large carrying case and a small case.

Aldo Balatti of Evolve Design Solutions was one of 2000 participants from more than 40 countries who attended the ICSID/IDSA Connecting ’07 World Design Congress held in San Francisco from October 17-20. In attendance at this design conference, labeled “The Design Event of a Lifetime”, were some of the top designers and innovation thinkers in the world. The event was a great opportunity to forge new professional and personal connections within the industry of design and innovation and was an amazing and enriching experience.
